Cuts Cannot Exclude U.S. Defense

Despite plans brewing on Capitol Hill to prevent $600 billion in across-the-board spending cuts to the Pentagon’s budget, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Carl Levin (D-Mich.), said on Jan. 26 that the cuts must apply to defense if they will force a debt reduction compromise in the Senate.
